What is a MAC and why do I need one?
A MAC is a unique code which allows you to switch broadband provider without any loss of service. If you receive your broadband service through a phone line then you'll need a MAC code to switch to Eclipse.
How do I get a MAC and how long will it take?
Your current internet provider will give you your MAC code. Find your provider on the list below and we’ll give you their number!
By law your existing provider must give you a MAC key within five working days.

Do I need to cancel with my existing supplier?
No, the easiest way to switch your broadband is to request a MAC (Migration Authorisation Code) from your existing supplier. You will then need to enter this code when ordering your Eclipse broadband – we'll do the rest for you.
An example of a typical MAC would be FTIP00000000/QW01Q
Will I have any down time without broadband?
No, if you use your MAC when ordering your Eclipse connection you won't experience any downtime of your broadband.
Can I transfer my domain before my new broadband is activated?
Yes, your domain services can be set up before your connection is activated. It's important that you follow the process in our guide and don’t cancel with your existing provider until the transfer is complete. Read the guide here
Can I get my IP addresses before my broadband has switched over?
Yes, shortly after you receive the email confirming your migration date your new broadband username and password will be available to you within the Connection Manager of your online My Eclipse account. Yyou will then be able to request your IP addresses.
How will I know when the migration is complete?
We will send you a welcome letter and email when your connection is ready. It’s important you keep these safe as they contain your username details.
The legal bit about Home Broadband
1 FREE to switch on a 12 month contract when you switch your broadband using a valid Migration Authority Code (MAC). £10 switching fee applies on a 1 month contract.
2 The actual speed you receive is subject to being on the Eclipse network and your line quality and distance from the exchange. If your line won't support 24Mbps or you live outside our network area, you'll receive the best speed available which offers a stable service.
3. FREE set up on a 12 month contract when you switch your broadband using a valid Migration Authority Code (MAC). If you are signing up to a new broadband connection a set up fee of £29.36 applies.
An Early Termination Fee, being equal to the fees payable for the remainder of the minimum contract term, will be chargeable if you terminate your broadband service during the minimum contract term. You may also incur a Cease Charge.
