Having a good internet connection is important and we want you to understand what internet speeds you could expect with Eclipse.  We do this by giving you three speeds – these are the minimum, maximum and the estimated speed of your line.

There are a number of reasons why your connection speed can vary – these being:

• The distance you are from your local exchange – meaning that your line has further to go before reaching the internet
• The quality of your phone line – these are made from copper which degrade over time and can affect the speed of your connection
• The quality of your kit – your computer and internet hardware
• Some websites can’t cope with high speeds so your connection will slow down

When you first buy broadband, your line will automatically enter a ‘training period’ – this will last for about 10 days and is when the speed of your connection fluctuates whilst it identifies the best possible speed of your line.
