New to Domains?

domain-included

Registering your own domain name takes seconds, costs less than a takeaway and gives you a personalised and professional-looking online identity.

Our easy to follow guide is intended to tell you all you need to know about registering your first domain - but at Eclipse, we're very proud of our award-winning, UK based experts who are here to answer your questions.

What is a domain?

Businesses use personalised domain names to give themselves a professional online identity, and to provide a website and email address that's specific to them.  But you don't have to be a business to register a domain - you may want a family website, or simply a personal email address.

eclipse.net.uk is a domain name.

What might I use my domain name for?

  • Sell your products online with the help of one of our eCommerce products
  • Make a website to promote your business, or simply share photos or information with your friends
  • Create and use a professional email address
  • Start an online blog
  • Save it.  You don't need to use a domain, but once you've registered it, it's yours.  Not all domain names are available so you might want to register one for future use to ensure you've got the name you're after.

If you're looking to use your domain name as an email address, you'll want to look at Eclipse Email and Webspace which will provide your email and includes a free domain name registration.

I already have a domain name registered.  How do I transfer it to Eclipse?

You can transfer your own domain names to us through your Eclipse portal.  Simply place a transfer order inside the portal, confirming that you own the name in question.  You'll then receive a transfer guide confirming the process - follow these instructions and we'll let you know as soon as the doman has transferred over to us.

Is there anything I should be aware of when setting up a domain for the first time?

Whenever a domain is purchased it is standard practice for the buyers details to be added to an online database that is accessible to the public. If you'd sooner have your details kept private just give us a call on  0845 1224 333 and for the majority of URLs we can arrange for your details to be kept private.
